The Valley Heights Locomotive Depot Heritage Museum is the Blue Mountains Division of the NSW Rail Transport Museum.
Located adjacent to the Great Western Highway and railway, it is an easy walk from the Valley Heights Railway Station.

Climb aboard steam engines, carriages and wagons from many eras of trains across the mountains. See the remarkable "Caves Express" and the "Ice Van", carefully restored to their former glory!

July 2019

Extra Open Days at Valley Heights Rail Museum for July School Holidays

Enjoy a rare chance to explore the Museum in the quiet of a 'non-steam' day. Stroll at leisure and enjoy all the regular exhibits and activities. Climb on carriages and locomotives to experience a driver’s eye view of the road ahead. Listen to 'Charlie' and 'Harry' as they prepare for their day's work on 103 year old steam engine number 5461.

Join a special 'behind the scenes' tour at 11am or 2pm for a glimpse of unseen gems.

Children from 5-15 can do the 'Kid's Quiz' - 10 fascinating questions about the exhibits. Look up the answers at home then print a certificate with the child's name. Great fun for all and a unique memento of your visit!

Learn about the 'Call Boy', relax in the first class luxury of the 'Caves Express' carriage and take in both working model rooms too. Then enjoy a barista coffee while you browse the shop.

REDUCED ADMISSION FEES on this day only! No booking required, so just turn up and share the best little Museum on the Mountains.

The museum is a Member of the 'Stronger Families Alliance', working together in the Blue Mountains, to enhance wellbeing and resilience for our children and young people. More information at: www.strongerfamilies.net.au/
